The 11th annual LeucadiArt Walk is this Sunday August 30th. Whether you’re a longtime Leucadian or a regional visitor, you’ll enjoy perusing the esteemed collection of local artists at the LeucadiART Walk. The 2015 LeucadiArt Walk celebrates our community’s artistic history while offering a diverse sampling of its present talent.
Enjoy live music at six locations along North Coast Hwy 101 including unique acts such as the New Orleans 2nd line inspired Euphoria Brass Band, the local favorite Jenk’s Band, Adrienne Nims, Cordellia Degher and more!
Enjoy a crisp San Diego craft beer and live tunes at the the California Coast Credit Union Beer Garden located at Noni Salon Boutique Spa at 704 N. Coast Hwy 101. The Lost Abbey and Port Brewing Co. will be pouring locally brewed, summer-ready craft beer from 1pm-7pm. Join the after party when the art walk ends at 5pm.
Attendees will have the chance to get up close and personal with mural painting at it’s best. Local artist Casey O’Connell will be live painting a brand new mural on the giant wall of Coffee Coffee at 970 N. Coast Hwy 101. Casey O’Connell is a talented muralist based in Leucadia who travels the U.S. painting commissioned murals in the country’s most notable centers for emerging art.
Scripps Health will be hosting the Children’s Art Pavilion with children’s activities by The Rock Project, The Oceanside Museum of Art, Terri Zimdars, The Encinitas Friends of the Arts, Easter Seals Early Child Hood Development and the Encinitas School of Music! Scripps Health will also feature a private breastfeeding area as well as a baby changing station!
Avoid traffic by parking at Encinitas City Hall (505 S Vulcan Ave) and jumping on the Magic Trolley Bus leaving every 15 minutes. If you are tired of walking, feel free to pick the bus up at marked locations along Hwy 101 for a free ride.
There will also be a few events the day before the LeucadiArt Walk to prepare the mainstreet for it’s big event. August 29th at 9am at the French Corner Bakery 1200 N. Coast Hwy 101, the quarterly Keep Leucadia Beautiful, will kick off with a Hwy 101 Clean up. Participants will be picking up trash along Hwy 101 in the medians and public right of way to make the Hwy neat and tidy for the LeucadiART Walk the following day!
Coastal Animal Hospital is hosting their 3rd Annual LeucadiArt Walk Pet Haiku Contest! Submit your haiku to Coastal Animal on Facebook or their website before August 25th for a chance to see your name and poem on Leucadia’s biggest marquee!
